2022 Jeep Compass Review

2022 Jeep Compass

When you’re looking for a Jeep SUV that’s prepared to take on the great outdoors around Rockwall, Terrell, Rowlett, and Wylie, Texas, a popular option is the Jeep Compass. For 2022, the Jeep Compass has gotten a redesign to make it even more capable both on and off the roads.

Rockwall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is thrilled to introduce interested drivers to the redesigned 2022 Jeep Compass in this review. Read on to learn about the Jeep Compass’s performance on and off the road as well as the interior!

On-Road Performance

One powerful engine gets the Compass going and keeps it moving. The standard 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 4-cylinder engine works with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission or available 9-speed automatic transmission to deliver 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. You’ll get good fuel economy with this engine, too, with an EPA-estimated 22 city and 31 highway MPG.

Front-wheel drive comes standard with many of the Compass trims, although you can opt for available 4-wheel drive.

If you want to tow some things with your Compass, you can. When properly equipped, the Compass has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.

Off-Road Capability

Off-Road CapabilityThe Jeep Compass has many different features to help you conquer whatever terrain you come across.

In fact, the Compass has a trim dedicated to off-road performance—the Trailhawk, which has BSW all-season on/off-road tires. Standard on the Trailhawk, but available on other trims, is the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System.

This system lets you adjust your driving controls to different terrains and driving conditions. Shift patterns, engine performance, and torque distribution all change to give you great traction.

Available Jeep 4×4 systems help you maintain traction and provide ground clearance to tackle whatever you might come across. The optional Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 System gives you a 20:1 crawl ratio so you can get over rocks and obstacles.

Available Hill Descent Control helps you with a smooth descent down a steep hill by monitoring the throttle, speed, and braking so you can focus on steering.

Inside the Compass

The interior of the Compass is a contemporary and comfortable refuge.

To give the Compass an air of sophistication, the dash has been redesigned. The instrument panel now melds with a textured fabric mid-bolster and slim air vents, so you get a smooth and stylish dash.

You’ll have standard cloth bucket seats, although you can upgrade to vinyl or leather-trimmed seats if you prefer the look and feel of leather. Ventilated front seats are available to keep you cool in the Texas heat, while optional driver-seat memory saves your seating position.

The infotainment system also gets an upgrade powered by Uconnect® 5 and offers an available 10.1-inch touchscreen. Use this system to stream music, get directions, and much more.
