When you’re on the search for your next partner on the road, you’re probably looking for something with advanced performance, design, and technology features.
Two of the most popular models on the market currently are the Jeep Wrangler and the Toyota 4Runner. Which is the right choice for you?
Here at Rockwall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we’re dedicated to helping our drivers every step of the way through their car-buying journey. We know that starts with the research process.
Check out our 2022 Jeep Wrangler vs. 2022 Toyota 4Runner breakdown below to see how these two vehicles stack up against one another!
Both vehicles have a reputation for delivering powerful performance features. So, to get started, we’ll head under the hood.
With the 2022 Jeep Wrangler, you’ll have the ability to choose from four engine options:
Under the hood of the 4Runner, you’re only going to get one engine option, the 4.0L V6, which only puts out 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque.
Despite all that power, the Wrangler still manages to deliver excellent fuel efficiency ratings. You’ll get up to an EPA-estimated 22 city and 29 highway MPG when equipped with the available 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine.
The 4Runner, on the other hand, once again falls short, delivering just an EPA-estimated 16 city and 19 highway MPG. This means you’ll have to stop and get gas more often in the 4Runner than you would in the Wrangler.
Perhaps the widest divide in efficiency comes from the Wrangler 4xe, a plug-in hybrid version. If you choose the plug-in hybrid Wrangler, a powertrain you won’t find in the 4Runner, you’ll enjoy an EPA-estimated 49 miles of all-electric range!
Now, we’ll move on to the exterior design features that set these two SUVs apart. The 2022 Wrangler provides you with the ability to customize your exterior.
You’ll have the ability to choose between seven soft and hardtop roof options, including:
The available Sky One-Touch® power top allows you to easily fold back your roof with the touch of a button.
Be sure to ask us about the standard removable doors and fold-down windshield. The hardtop can also be removed in three pieces and stored in your trunk.
With the 2022 4Runner, you do not have the ability to remove the roof or doors. You’ll only get the standard power rear glass, which lowers the glass of the rear window. You also won’t be able to remove the doors of the 4Runner with ease, something the Wrangler allows for.
While both vehicles may be a decent choice for your commutes around Rockwall, Terrell, Rowlett, and Wylie, Texas, it’s clear the Wrangler outperforms the 4Runner in crucial categories, including powertrain and design features, as well as MPG ratings.
